Santos' double-double lands him (Second Stage) Player of the Week award

30-year old center Luis Santos (203-C-1994) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Caneros Del Este and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8 (Second Stage).
He had a double-double of 22 points and 20 rebounds, while his team outclassed Marineros (#6, 6-15) with 28-point margin 91-63. It allowed Caneros to take over top position in the Dominican Rep. league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Caneros has a very solid 15-7 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Santos had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Caneros' top player in his first season with the team. Luis Santos averages this season 15.6ppg and 10.4rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Sterling Manley (213-F/C-1998) of league's second-best Reales de La Vega. He is American forward in his first season at Reales. In the last game Manley recorded an impressive double-double of 21 points and 21 rebounds. Of course Reales cruised to a 102-90 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Indios (#5, 10-11). Despite this victory Reales slide down in the standings to 2nd position. His team's 14-7 record is not bad at all. Manley is a newcomer at Reales and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Richard Bautista (185-PG-1997, agency: BMS Sport Agency) of Titanes del Licey (#3). Bautista showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Titanes, leading his team to a 93-83 win against #4 ranked Metros in a game of the week. Titanes needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 9 lost games. Bautista has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.8rpg (7th best) and assists with 7.5apg (best passer). He also has 3.1spg and a FGP of 57.6%.
